Looking for constructive ways to help his wife through their pregnancy, Aaron Harvie had a lightbulb moment: he could cook for her and their unborn child. The former rock band manager had already succeeded in one food-focused life change, when he signed up for a fledgling TV show called MasterChef Australia in 2010. Harnessing kitchen skills honed through subsequent years of TV appearances, cooking demonstrations, recipe development and more, Aaron began to adapt her favourite meals into nutritionally sound, pregnancy-friendly formats.
That caring gesture has turned Aaron in to the go-to guy for stay-at-home dads, with a cookbook series A House Husbands’ Guide now to his credit. The second instalment, A House Husbands’ Guide: Our Meal/ Their Meal, was released in May 2018 to great acclaim. Aaron gained household name status via MasterChef, followed by 2012’s MasterChef All Stars and, eventually, his own show, Love to Share. He is renowned for his high-energy approach to cooking and his love of all things Italian, Southern, Mexican, barbecue and, of course, rock and roll.
Through his online venture Food That Rocks, Aaron has worked as an independent menu consultant for restaurants, venues and brand events for Westfield, Coles, Latina Fresh and Old El Paso. He fronted a national TV campaign for Pizza Hut’s Stonefire range and has an ongoing role as the face of Ziegler & Brown barbecues in its TV, online and print campaigns.
A consummate media professional, he has presented cooking demonstrations on national TV shows and at food festivals around the country, including Taste of Melbourne and Taste of Sydney.He’s also hosted cooking master classes at universities, and his recipes have featured on TV, radio, print media and online.
Keen to give back to the community, he is actively involved in charity work and has supported such causes as Room to Read, Giveability, the Brain Injury Awareness Week campaign Bangonabeanie, and Movember. In 2011, Aaron served as an Australia Day Ambassador.
Aaron’s latest whacky YouTube project, Pimp My Noodles, has gone viral. With two more TV shows in the works, his wealth of ideas and enthusiasm will guarantee his longevity in the food industry.
