Dr Emma Hall, a.k.a. The Wild Vet, is the owner and head veterinarian at the Wild Vet Hospital in the heart of Sydney's Glebe. Her journey, transitioning from an initial degree in marine biology to earning her stripes as a distinguished veterinarian, uniquely positions her as a passionate advocate for animal welfare, both on land and beneath the waves.
Post-graduation, Emma embarked on a journey exploring the vast landscapes of Australia, lending her expertise to veterinary clinics from the outback to major cities. It was this journey, coupled with her commitment to delivering high quality care to both domestic pets and wildlife, that was the catalyst for her establishing The Wild Vet Hospital.
Alongside her role at The Wild Vet, Emma collaborates with a range of zoos and wildlife sanctuaries. Her proficiency in surgery, ultrasonography, and medicine has been instrumental in helping a range of animals, from kangaroos and echidnas to venomous snakes, sea turtles, and birds of prey.
As a devoted animal rescue advocate, Dr Emma has not only amassed a menagerie of rescue pets but has also managed the rehoming of countless unwanted animals through various Australian animal charity organisations. Among her cherished rescue companions are Apollo, a mischievous blue & gold macaw; Nugget, a distinguished French Bulldog; and Norman, a spirited Dachshund X, and a collection of reptilian friends.
Emma has appeared on the cover of Veterinary Practice Magazine and is a sought-after speaker at veterinary and pet events, both for her clinical knowledge, and also shedding light on the challenges and triumphs of being a young female entrepreneur in her field. She has also appeared on Channel 9 and Channel 10 news, sharing her insights and experiences in pet care.
Beyond the confines of her veterinary practice, Dr Emma is a nature enthusiast and conservationist. During her extensive travels across Australia, she has trekked through the country's breathtaking rainforests, wading through croc-infested caves, sleeping under the stars surrounded by dingoes, and swimming with whale sharks.
Being an avid scuba diver has also seen Emma dive with manta rays, sharks and venomous sea snakes, whilst also navigating shipwrecks and traversing Australia’s largest ocean cave system.
Emma’s adventures have encouraged her to embody a holistic commitment to the well-being of animals and their habitats. She is a member of Sydney Wildlife and has spent hours at a time travelling to rescue and transport Australian wildlife. This continued commitment is reflected in the long hours Emma puts into caring for injured, sick and misplaced wildlife in her veterinary hospital every year.
