overview
Mina Asfour (He/Him) is an award-winning filmmaker, actor, writer, and producer based in Sydney, Australia, with proud Jordanian and Palestinian heritage. His career began in his teenage years, working in front of the camera on a range of projects including guest-starring on ABC’s Halal Gurls (dir. Vonne Patiag) and appearing in Superwog (dir. Theodore Saidden). Mina has also featured in commercial campaigns for major brands such as TikTok, LADbible, Donut King, Gumtree, ReachOut Australia, and TAFE NSW. On stage, Mina has toured internationally with Powersuit Theatre Co., playing the lead role of Will in the “Critically acclaimed” The Culture (dir. Bethany Caputo), where the play toured the U.S.A, New Zeland and Australia.

Mina was honoured to receive the SF3 and Chicken & Chips Pitch Award for his short film The Rectangle Love Triangle, a project he wrote, directed, produced, and starred in. The film earned multiple accolades, including People’s Choice Award, Best Pitch, and the FilmBreaker Award at The SF3 Festival. Mina continues to develop original work, including his upcoming feature film Love Off A Knife, a darkly romantic tale of a self-destructive lover. After successfully pitching the concept at the Inner West Film Festival—where it placed second—it is now in development, with acclaimed director Craig Boreham (Lonesome, Teenage Kicks) attached to direct.

As a writer, Mina was selected for Yungstr, a six-month program championing bold and satirical storytelling, run by award-winning playwright Lachlan Philpott in partnership with Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP). He also was an Artist-in-Residence at Bankstown Arts Centre, where he is developing a new body of work to premiere at the conclusion of his residency. Additionally, Mina was commissioned as a writer for the web series Broke Actor by NOAH Productions, penning an episode for the series.

In addition to his screen and stage work, Mina is a singer-songwriter, performing within a baritone vocal range (C2–E4).

A passionate advocate for authentic representation, Mina’s mission is to create more opportunities for underrepresented voices, championing diversity within the Australian film and theatre industries and breaking barriers for artists like himself.
