On the island of Tasmania, Russell was born into a theatre family. Inspiring him with their many professional theatre productions (Show Company Australia), and also forming a leading Tasmanian performing arts school (Musical Theatre Crew) to nurture and develop talent on an island where the industry is still emerging.

Driven by the importance of creating art for audiences, Russell has begun carving out an exciting career, splitting his time between Australia and the USA. Currently he is starring opposite Jeremy London in the feature film KILLER KEG. He's also worked on shows such as TOOLIES (Boulevard Film) opposite Danielle MacDonald, and the regular series of videos for
BUZZFEED VIDEO (USA).

In Australia, Russell has starred in films such as OFFING DAVID with Nathaniel Buzolic, and in the award-winning cult hit feature film THE TUNNEL MOVIE (Black Rock films & Distracted Media). Television highlights include HEADLAND (Seven Network), and animated tv series THE WOODLIES (ABC)

Russell studied at National Institute of Performing Art (NIDA), and has continued to train at various schools in Australia & the USA. He starred in several Australian shows and touring shows such as BELLINI'S NORMA (Opera Australia), WEST SIDE STORY, GREASE, OLIVER! to name a few.

For the last two years, Russell has volunteered time to help produce MarkIT Indie, a Los Angeles community event for independent filmmakers, actors and content creators.
